About IAMFEZ aka Chris McClean: IAMFEZ aka Chris McClean originates from a dark industrial corner of the north east of the England. A graphic designer who started the design studio Soul after moving back to the UK following four years of self imposed exile in Amsterdam. Influenced by the compositions of Reggie Pedro's paintings, the abstractness of Futura's characters and the typographic forms Jose Parla paints. Chris finds inspiration in his immediate surroundings; the music from the stereo, the awkwardness of the disused factories that litter his hometown, shards of sunlight
that pierce through the North Sea fog, (in which he spends most of his free time catching waves), and the characters at the local bowl where reputations are lost and found.

This series of paintings 'Souless Hero's' focuses on the modern day hero and its relationship with the decay of the hero of old.

The Empyrean.

The Empyrean is my new record and will be released worldwide via Record Collection on January 20th 2009. It was recorded on and off between December 2006 and March 2008. It is a concept record that tells a single story both musically and lyrically. The story takes place within one person, and there are two characters. It contains a version of Tim Buckley’s, ‘Song To The Siren’ and the rest of the songs are written by me. My friend Josh plays on it, as does Flea. It also features Sonus Quartet, Johnny Marr and The New Dimension Singers. I’m really happy with it and I’ve listened to it a lot for the psychedelic experience it provides. It should be played as loud as possible and it is suited to dark living rooms late at night.

Last year I made a resolution to not make a resolution, (check the post here) it worked. I've surfed more this year than I have for long time. So for 2009 I'm gonna document it. Hopefully the swells will roll in, this was sunday (04/01) not epic but we had fun.
