Plastic Chicks.
These photographs of albatross chicks were made just a few weeks ago on Midway Atoll, a tiny stretch of sand and coral near the middle of the North Pacific. The nesting babies are fed bellies-full of plastic by their parents, who soar out over the vast polluted ocean collecting what looks to them like food to bring back to their young. On this diet of human trash, every year tens of thousands of albatross chicks die on Midway from starvation, toxicity, and choking.
To document this phenomenon as faithfully as possible, not a single piece of plastic in any of these photographs was moved, placed, manipulated, arranged, or altered in any way. These images depict the actual stomach contents of baby birds in one of the world's most remote marine sanctuaries, more than 2000 miles from the nearest continent.

More music - The Slew.
Xlr8r said: A couple years ago, turntablist extraordinaire Kid Koala (a.k.a. Eric San) and his friend Dynomite D (a.k.a. Dylan Frombach) were assigned the task of soundtracking a documentary. Said film never saw the light of day, but its music—at the urging, and with the assistance, of Wolfmother's old rhythm section—is about to. Ex-Wolf-members Chris Ross and Myles Heskett are now set to join Koala on tour as they present The Slew. Working with live drums, bass, keys, and six turntables, the group is going to deliver 70-minute sets of raw guitar and some of the dopest manipulated beats you've heard all year.
Before they hit the stage, Koala wanted to drop a freebie to the masses so they can hear the madness before going to the show. Here is a link to that free album.
Siiiick beats.

Ray LaMontagne.
Saw him live this week in Sheffield. His albums don't do him justice. Amazing live, insane voice and beautiful moving songs.

My goat has been got.
Two things that have got my goat this week.
It's appalling that this test has been made public, a blatant disregard for her dignity. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/8213421.stm
Needs no explaining, ridiculous. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/newsnight/8211877.stm

Busy working...
Busy working, looking at the sun though my window. New music from Dead Weather, White Denim and Lady Of The Sunshine are rocking the office stereo.
Jack White and The Kills' Alison Mosshart have formed a new band – The Dead Weather, which also features Jack Lawrence of The Raconteurs and Dean Fertita of Queens Of The Stone Age.
Brilliant.
Makes you wanna go surf but the tracks from Lady Of the Sunshine who is Angus from Angus & Julia Stone.

Hope.
In the long term, there really isn’t much to report. The chart remains practically the same for at least another five or six days, with very slack or non-existent pressure gradients both on the surface and in the upper atmosphere. The good news is we’re now past the summer solstice, so the difference in solar input between the Equator and the North Pole – the driving force for all Atlantic storms – is already beginning to increase again.

David Wilson has directed this impressive video for new band We Have Band. But what makes this promo particularly unusual is that it was conceived by an advertising agency.
