Sigur Rós - Varúð

Been busy directing some film bits and pieces recently including
this for Talenthouse/Sigur Rós.

Secret 7 x Ben Howard.

Think I can say this out loud now; back in April I was asked to create a sleeve for  Secret 7" an event held with the proceeds going to the Teenage Cancer Trust. I was honoured to be asked, here's my offering for Ben Howard's, Black Flies.

Fathoms Left to Fall.

Recent film we shot in Ireland for Northcore. Shot over one and half days in the rain, wind and fog with some of the biggest conditions to hit Ireland this year. Some amazing surfing and driving from the guys on the water and two Billabong XXL award nominations from the session. Crazy day and crazy memories.

Secret 7"

Was pretty excited to be asked to create a sleeve for the Secret 7" sale in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust, all works go on sale the 21st April so if your in the big smoke check it out.

British Wildlife Photography Awards.

The overall winning picture from the 2011 British Wildlife Photography Awards (BWPA) is this ethereal image of a jellyfish. It was captured by Richard Shucksmith at Sula Sgeir (meaning Gannet Rock); a small, uninhabited island 40 miles north of Lewis. For more go here.

HDR.

Not normally a massive fan of the technique but... dramatic seas, dramatic skies, a camera that has auto bracketing and a copy of Photomatix, be rude not to.

Today.

Back in the office for the first time in two weeks... a job for Universal Records and a 5pm deadline needed a soundtrack that guaranteed work. This playlist on shuffle delivered.

Nordic.

Nice to see your own work in print... shot on my recent travels to Norway. Printed in the latest issue of NSM.

RIP Gil.

Standing in the ruins of another black man's life
Or flying through the valley separating day and night
"I am death!" cried the vulture for the people of the light
Karon brought his raft from the sea that sails on souls
And saw the scavenger departing, taking warm hearts to the cold
He knew the ghetto was a haven for the meanest preacher ever known
In the wilderness of heartbreak and a desert of despair
Evil's clarion of justice shrieks a cry of naked terror
Taking babies from their mamas, leaving grief beyond compare
So if you see the vulture coming, flying circles in your mind
Remember there is no escaping for he will follow close behind
Only promise me a battle, battle for your soul and mine
And mine

Your Soul and Mine.

Always was and always will continue to be a favourite on the studio speakers. Musical genius. Rest in Peace Gil.
